Who’s ready to be inside?

A review of October leagues, highlights, & new events to look forward to.

October is not only meant for apple picking, getting lost in a maze, pumpkin spice, foliage peeping, and Halloween, it’s also meant for the last bit of outdoor league action before we move indoors for that amazing Maine Winter!

This coming Winter, we have space in a a few leagues that could be added to your exercise & social routines!

Tuesday Indoor Golf has TWO spots left! The League resumes on 11/14 and runs for 7-8 weeks! The venue is X-Golf Portland and has simulators and a bar & grill onsite!

For softball players, there is an option for your squad to stay together this Winter! Check out Tuesday Indoor Softball @ The Portland Sports Complex! This league starts on 11/14 and there is space for TWO teams!

Fun Fact: Did you know that about 75% of adults played sports when they were younger, but only 25% continue to play sports as adults! Yay, you're part of that 25%!

Basketball Championship

The Chupapies may have taken home the Championship reign, but it was a nail biting game! The game was back and forth for the first 15 minutes, but the Chupapies headed into halftime up by 4 points. Their opponent was strong on the boards, grabbing any second chance rebounds for a chance to score. The Chupapies were on fire and made a majority of their shots. The Chupapies started pulling away with 10 minutes left on the clock and sealed the win with draining three pointers back-to-back.

Softball Championships

Within the past month, we’ve had 8 Softball Champions across all session! It’s sad that this will be the last outdoor sport until next year! Congrats to: Free Basers (Mon), One Hit Wonders (Mon), Andrea’s Bridal (Sun), Mighty Melonheads (Sun), Stallions (Wed), & Trippin Balls (Tues)!

Dodgeball is back!

Dodgeball is crazy! The key to dodgeball is to “dodge” the ball, but we saw a lot people getting hit! Every game is fast paced, and adrenaline was sky high! There are so many different techniques used in order to get someone out! Balls thrown at great speed, tag teaming with a buddy to get one person out, or a soft toss to bait with a hard throw to follow. If you want to watch some intense action & fun, head to Breakwater School on Tuesdays!

Kickball League Champions

Friendly rivalry is the best, and is exactly what we saw between Funtown and Splashtown in the Championship Game! It was a race against time to claim the Golden Ball because they needed to have a Champion before sundown. The game consisted of mainly amazing defensive plays. Funtown was able to find “holes” within the Splashtown’s defense, which lead to runs. Funtown took home the Golden Ball!

Wow, September Flew By!

A review of September leagues, highlights, & new events to look forward to.

Who would of guessed that it’s already October? The action is going strong indoors and outdoors with many leagues starting Fall Seasons in September!

Just a reminder that we are beginner friendly, so definitely try some new sports you’ve been thinking about! Or if you want to make friends and socialize, join as a free agent in a sport that interests you!

Snow is coming (yes unfortunately), so how do you keep that golf swing tuned up? Each Fall we partner with X-Golf in Portland with simulated play! The Tuesday Indoor Golf League tees off on October 24th adn plays every Tuesday for 8 weeks. Another bonus - There’s a bar and grill onsite for mid round socializing!

Fun Fact: Did you know Casco Bay Sports offers pickup soccer? If you do not want to commit to 6-8 week season or could not find a team, but still want to exercise, this is a great opportunity for you! Check out the Soccer page on our website which will provide you with information on the next pickup soccer game. There is Tuesday Indoor Pickup Soccer scheduled for October 10th at Portland Sports Complex.

Players Highlight : Meg and Pete

Where could you find Meg and Pete? There’s a great chance they’re playing Flag Football at Memorial Stadium (Deering High School) or on the court playing Basketball! They are a very active couple within the Casco Bay Sports community. They’re both very friendly and welcoming, but competitive! Aside from sports, they dedicate their time to their careers and family!

NEW LEAGUE: Monday Coed Indoor Pickleball

Monday Indoor Co-Ed Pickleball has been split into two separate time slots due to the overwhelming interest! This league debuted at the Point Community Center in South Portland! The playoffs are scheduled for Oct 30th. There is a “Waiting List” for the upcoming session. This League plays on Mondays and has a capacity of 19 teams - Make sure you join this list so you don’t miss out on next session!

Outdoor Softball Leagues (FALL)

Softball is in its final few weeks of play all current sessions ending at the end of this month! The options for Winter Softball are Tuesday INDOORS at The Portland Sports Complex! We use a softer ball and set up two fields inside the dome. There’s been so many exciting plays and home runs that we can’t keep track of it all - Thank you for playing this Summer & Fall!

Thursday Kickball League (FALL)

The image up top captures a funny & interesting kickball play! One player was on base when a kick was made into the outfield! In an effort to beat the throw home, runners picked up speed rounding each base. Between third base and home, the player caught up to the runner in front of them as they approached home!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall!

A review of August leagues, highlights, & new events to look forward to.

This summer brought us a lot of unexpected rain, but that did not stop us from playing! Summer Leagues have officially ended which means Fall and Winter sports return. August was action packed with outdoor sports leagues!

We weren’t sure if this sport would return after our beloved “Cube” closed but…..Duck, jump, swerve, and dodge because Dodgeball is back! The league is back in action on Tuesdays at the good ol’ Breakwater School.

Ever try Co-Ed Inner Tube Water Polo? - This random sport that delivers amazing exercise only happens a few times a year. The Fall League kicks off on October 11 (every Wednesday) at Cape Elizabeth High School!

Fun Fact: Casco Bay Sports was founded in 2008! That was 15 years ago! We truly appreciate YOU for being part of our Casco Bay Sports community.
